Launching Powder Coatings E‑Commerce Platform
Objective:
To pioneer the introduction of powder coatings into the digital realm by understanding customer behaviors and preferences within a traditionally offline market and leveraging these insights to develop an e-commerce platform for seamless product purchasing and order management.
Outcome:
The launch of the powder coatings e-commerce platform represents a significant milestone in the digital transformation of the coatings business. By addressing customer needs for speed, transparency, and convenience, the platform has the potential to revolutionize the way powder coatings are purchased and managed. Moving forward, continued refinement and iteration based on user feedback will be essential to ensure the platform's continued success in meeting evolving customer expectations and industry standards.
Role & Approach:
Teaming up with a fellow product designer, we embarked on a comprehensive discovery phase involving in-depth interviews with sales teams, technical support, product distribution personnel, and powder coatings customers. This extensive research period allowed us to uncover nuanced insights into customer personas, pain points, and expectations.
Discovery & Synthesis:
Utilizing collaborative tools like Mural, we synthesized our findings, mapping out customer personas and journey maps to visualize key touchpoints and pain areas. By identifying common themes such as pricing challenges, fulfillment issues, and the need for transparent communication, we laid the groundwork for informed design decisions.
Design & Prototype:
With insights gleaned from our research, we crafted a user-centric design within Figma, focusing on intuitive navigation and streamlined user flows. The prototype aimed to address customer demands for simplicity and clarity while providing essential information such as technical data sheets and safety data sheets.
